Be they ever so annoying, professional celebrity photographers (a.k.a. the paparazzi) have seen nothing but uptick year after year, even amidst the worst economic conditions since the Great Depression. It’s fair to say the same thing about the celebrities whose images they’re constantly trying to capture for the tabloids, newspapers, magazines and websites that are willing to pay so handsomely for the best shots. Along with additional venues for their work, photographers have also enjoyed a boom in digital camera technology.
The Red Carpet Beckons
There are certain celebrities with whom the shutterbugs have had adversarial relationships, true, but much of what the paparazzi sells is consumed by a majority of the public which really doesn’t have the salacious streak of American pop-culture legend. In those instances in which having their pictures taken is practically the purpose of a celebrity gathering - think Red Carpet - the Hollywood stars are flaunting the height of fashion, and the viewing public is eating it up through the lenses of the cameras.
To See and Be Seen
Many of the very latest dresses, shoes, handbag, jewelry and all other manner of style on exhibit by the rich and famous will find its way into the shopping bags of women at department stores across the country. If it was worn, clutched or slung over the shoulder of a certain famous actress on Oscar night, you might as well be sporting the same thing at the next big party you attend.
The makers of fine outfit accessories understand this as well. With the paparazzi providing a window to the world, any celebrity sighting with the latest selection could do wonders for sales at companies like Christian Dior, Yves St. Laurent or Louis Vuitton (as Chloe found out when Miley Cyrus recently took one of their handbags for a stroll). If it’s good enough for the most-photographed people in the world, it’s sure to make you look great, too!
